Summary Introduction

To explain: The type of bond formed between fluorine atom and potassium atom.

Introduction: The bond formation between atoms depends on their structure. An atom consists of protons, neutrons, and electrons. The protons and neutrons present in the nucleus and electrons revolve in different electronic shells. The electron present in the outermost shell is called valence electrons. When two atoms are so unequal in their attraction for valence electrons (outermost electrons), the more electronegative atom strips an electron completely and forms ions.
