A limited form of galvanic cells is known as concentration cells. A concentration cell has two half-cells, which are equivalent and have the same composition, but different concentrations.
The tendency of any chemical species to be reduced is known as its reduction potential. The measurement of voltage existing between two half-cells is known as the cell potential.
