In animals, these pathogens may or may not affect the organism, but if these pathogens are transmitted from the animals to humans, it can lead to severe illness. The most dangerous part of zoonotic diseases is that the pathogens like viruses can recombine with the human strain and can evolve into a new pathogenic disease. Hence, in humans, the zoonotic disease becomes more severe.
