Chapter 19, Problem 14CP
Summary Introduction

To determine:

The reason that the person with type A blood cannot receive blood from a person with type B blood.

Introduction:

The person with blood group A cannot receive blood from the person with blood group B because the antigen present on the membrane of blood group A is A antigen and B antigen on the surface of the blood group B person. The transfusion and the mixing of the blood group A and B will lead to the agglutination and clumping of the blood in the person leading to the destruction of the red blood cells. This process is called as hemolysis.
