N. meningitidis is a Gram negative diplococcus bacterium. Colonies formed by these bacteria are smooth, round, convex, colorless, and gray in shape. N. gonorrhoeae is a Gram negative diplococcus bacterium. The colonies of these bacteria are pinkish brown with clear edges.
