Concept explainers
What causes dust particles to move with Brownian motion?
To explain: The cause of dust particles movement with Brownian motion.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The Brownian motion first was studied by Robert brown. He saw pollen grains floating in water under microscope.
The atoms and molecules are moving in random motion. The atoms which are vibrating collide with the dust particles. During collision atoms transfer their kinetic energy to dust particles. Due to which tiny grains of soot move in random motion.
Conclusion:
Neighbouring atoms transfer their kinetic energy to dust particles. This causes dust particles move with Brownian motion.
