Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The matter is a substance that contains mass and occupies space. It exists on space in four phases. They are solid, liquid, gaseous, and plasma. Gaseous state of matter does not have fixed shape and volume. But plasma phase of matter consists of positive ions along with free electrons. In solid phase, the atoms and molecules vibrate about fixed positions. In liquid phase, the material’s shape is not a fixed, it is based on the shape of mould or container in which it is placed.
The plasma phase exists only at high temperatures. Plasma can be a great conductor of electricity due to the positively charged electrons or particles. The plasma phase is a predominant phase of matter in the universe. A continuous heating of water molecules results in its separation into atoms. When the temperature exceeds these atoms are shaken apart and forms gaseous ions and free electrons which in turn provides the plasma.
Conclusion:
Thus, the plasma is a good conductor of electricity than of gas.
