Introduction:

A permanent modification in the structure of DNA is referred to as a mutation. This occurs due to alterations in the single base units of the DNA. The mutation is carried out either by insertion, deletion, or rearrangement of the genes. It arises spontaneously owing to errors during the DNA replication. It could also be caused by exposure to radiations and chemicals.
