To explain: The reason why infection was not thought to be the cause of peptic ulcer in the past.

Concept introduction: Ulceration or sore that develops in the protective mucosal lining of the lower esophagus, stomach, or duodenum is known as peptic ulcers. Severity of peptic ulcers differs based on numbers (single or multiple), disease condition (acute or chronic), and occurrence (superficial or deep). Common causes of peptic ulcers include gastric infection with H. pylori, alcohol, medications, smoking, and stress.
