The block diagram for the structure of a nucleic acid is to be drawn.

Concept Introduction:

Nucleic acids act as templates for the formation of proteins. Nucleic acids are long, chain like molecules consisting of repeating units called nucleotides.

 Each nucleotide has three components: a phosphate group, a sugar group and a base. The phosphate group and the sugar group are identical in each nucleotide, but there are four different bases.
