Total productive maintenance combines the practice of preventive maintenance and quality. The objective of the TPM is to increase the efficiency of the equipment and continuous improvement. Machine activities performed during the breakdown of the machine to restore its original operating condition are called breakdown maintenance. Whereas the cost associated with an attempt to prevent from occurring breakdown by regular basis is called preventive maintenance. The objective of maintenance is to improve productivity, extend the life span of the machine.
