Concept explainers
(a)
Interpretation:
The increasing order of dipole moments of isomers of dichlorobenzene is to be stated.
Concept introduction:
The molecule containing two different electronegative atoms when joined through a covalent bond will have charge distribution. This uneven distribution of charges leads to positive and negative poles. The molecules containing opposite poles has some dipole moment and are said to be polar molecules.
(b)
Interpretation:
The increasing order of boiling points of isomers of dichlorobenzene is to be stated.
Concept introduction:
The temperature at which the atmospheric pressure equals to the vapor pressure is known as boiling point. As the intermolecular forces increase in the molecule the boiling point also increases. High intermolecular forces indicate that it is difficult for the molecules to be separated in order to change the state of the substance.

- Identify the missing organic reactants in the following reaction: X + Y H+ two steps Note: This chemical equation only focuses on the important organic molecules in the reaction. Additional inorganic or small-molecule reactants or products (like H2O) are not shown. In the drawing area below, draw the skeletal ("line") structures of the missing organic reactants X and Y. You may draw the structures in any arrangement that you like, so long as they aren't touching. Click and drag to start drawing a structure.
