Summary Introduction

Cyanobacteria are prevalent in freshwater as well as terrestrial environments. This group is able to tolerate extreme environmental conditions such as desiccation. They are oxygen dependent phototrophic organisms. The growth of Cyanobacteria is well established where inorganic nutrients are largely available. They exist as symbionts with ferns, cycads, and liverworts.
