Summary Introduction
The bioluminescent bacteria or the light producing bacteria are mostly found in the marine sediments as well as in sea water. Bioluminescent bacteria are also found in the gut of aquatic animals and decomposing fish. Some of the biological uses of this luminescence are defense from the predators, signals of warning as well as attracting mates. The gene that is responsible for the luminescence in bacteria is luxCDABE.
