Concept Introduction:Benzodiazepines belongs to the class of psychoactive drugs. It slows down the body’s function and work by increasing the effect of a brain chemical, GABA (gamma amino butyric acid). They are useful in the treatment of anxiety, muscle spasms, insomnia, alcohol withdrawal and agitation.
