Pathogenic bacteria cause several diseases in humans and plants. Bacteria have a specialized cell wall with peptidoglycan. It acts as a thick protective covering to bacteria from the adverse actions of drugs and enzymes in the host cells. This outer protective layer of bacteria enables them to adhere with the host cells through flagella and other chemical modes.
