Concept introduction:

Gene mutation is the total alternation in the DNA sequence that builds up a gene for which the sequence differs from original one. Mutations range in size of the gene. The gene can affect at any portion from a single DNA base pair to a large segment of a chromosome that includes multiple number genes. Hereditary mutations are inherited from parent to the offspring. These mutations are called as germline mutations.
