Person X has to realize that ERP will cost more than expected. Person X must ensure that customer should be made aware of the truth. Person X as the salesperson can be expected to solve the issue for the customer. Person X could look at the possibility of another customer faced the issue and solved the problem or can look to share the development costs.

Person X can also speak to the manager regarding the possibility of adding cost to the budget for performing the enhancement or helping the customer to pay for the enhancement.
