Lymphocytes are the type of the white blood cells which carries the response of the adaptive immunity. They are of two types B lymphocytes and T lymphocytes. T lymphocytes also known as T cells are the specialized thymocytes that originate in the thymus and constitute 70% to 80% of lymphocytes circulating in the blood. There are three types of T cells: helper T cells (stops infection through series of complex steps), memory T cells (provide memory for particular type of antigen on subsequent exposures) and cytotoxic T cells (recognize nonself antigens).
