The viruses that invade the bacterial cell are termed to be bacteriophages. The most common known bacteriophages are T4 bacteriophages. These bacteriophages have a complex icosahedral head that contains the genetic material and tail fiber like a hypodermic needle, through which they infect the bacteria with their genome.
