Inquiry question Mendel did not examine plant height and pod shape in his dihybrid crosses. The genes for these traits are very close together on the same chromosome. How would this have changed Mendel’s results?

Introduction: Mendel experimented on pea plant and selected traits like the height of the plant, position of flower, the color of a pod, form of an unripe pod, the color of the seed coat, color of cotyledons and form of a seed.
Explanation of Solution
Mendel did not examine plant height and pot shape in his dihybrid cross and the Gene's for these lies very close to each other and this can affect the result of Mendel's study. The genes located on different chromosomes assort independently and give the dihybrid ratio of 9:3:3:1 and testcross ratio of 1:1:1:1. In this case, parental type and recombinant type are formed in equal proportion. In the case of linked genes, there will be no formation of recombinants or fewer recombinants will be formed. The dihybrid test will be disturbed.
