Concept explainers
If the gravitational pull of Earth and Sun is equal or not.
Explanation of Solution
The gravitational force is equal. We pull on the earth with the same force it pulls on us. It's just that the sun has much more mass that it is barely affected. However, the gravitational field of the sun is much greater than Earth.
Newton's law of universal gravitation states that a particle attracts every other particle in the universe using a force that is directly proportional to the product of the mass and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers.
Conclusion:
From above,
The earth’s gravitational force on the sun is equal to the sun’s gravitational force on the earth.
