To write:
Names of two DNA mutations along with their illustrations through the given DNA sequence.
Introduction:
A permanent change in the cell’s DNA is called mutation. This change occurs in the

Answer to Problem 16STP
Two types of mutations are insertions and deletions.
The given DNA sequence is:
CGA TTG ACG TTT TAG GAT
Insertion of ‘A’ after 6th base- CGA TTG AAC GTT TTA GGA T
Deletion of ‘G’ after 1st base-CAT TGA CGT TTT AGG AT
Explanation of Solution
Mutations can occur in single base pair or a large section of DNA may be deleted. Point mutation in one base pair may cause genetic disorder. There are many types of point mutations; substitution mutation, insertions, deletions etc.
Insertions occur when a nucleotide is added to the DNA sequence.
The given DNA sequence is:
CGA TTG ACG TTT TAG GAT
If ‘A’ is inserted after 6th base, it would change the given sequence as:
CGA TTG AAC GTT TTA GGA T
Deletion occurs when a nucleotide is removed from a DNA sequence. The given DNA sequence is:
CGA TTG ACG TTT TAG GAT
If the 2nd‘G’ is deleted, it would the change the given sequence as:
CATTGACGT TTTAGGAT

Use the antisense strand that you create in part A as a template to create the mRNA transcript of the gene and label the 5' and 3' ends. C. Translate the mRNA you produced in part B into the polypeptide sequence making sure to follow all the rules of translation. 5'-AGCATGACTAATAGTTGTTGAGCTGTC-3' (sense strand) 4arrow_forward
