Answer to Problem 37A

The goals of sustainable use are to reduce the consumption of natural resources, recycle resources as much as possible and preserve the ecosystems. One must use natural resources at a rate that Earth can renew them. This will make sure that not only the demands of present but also the future are met.

Explanation of Solution

The consumption of natural resources in not evenly distributed. It is much higher for people living in developed countries tan for people living in developing countries. Because of the ever growing human population and an increased demand for natural resources, a long term plan for their use and conservation is important.

One approach to using natural resources is the sustainable use. It means using resources at a rate in which they can be replaced or recycled while preserving the long term environmental health of the biosphere.

Conservation of resources includes reducing the consumption of resources, recycling resources and preserving ecosystems, as well as using them in a responsible manner.
