Concept Introduction:
Electron-dot (Lewis) symbol: The numbers of valence electron are shown using dot symbol around the atomic symbol.
The valance electrons are represented as a dot; the dots are distributed around the four sides of the element symbol. Primarily, fill electrons in each side of the atomic symbol, if the element has five or more than five electrons, the electrons are added in the four sides of the element symbol then it will get paired. The maximum dot of the electron in one side of the element symbol is two. A group of 1A atom has a single dot, a group of 2A atom has two dots and a group of 3A atom has three dots and so on.
Steps in drawing a Lewis dot structure,
- Individual atoms have to be drawn.
- Connect the atoms that can form more than one bond.
- Hydrogen atom has to be connected.
- If unpaired electrons are present pair up, so as to achieve an octet.

- Show the mechanism steps to obtain the lowerenergy intermediate: *see imagearrow_forwardSoap is made by the previous reaction *see image. The main difference between one soap and another soap isthe length (number of carbons) of the carboxylic acid. However, if a soap irritates your skin, they mostlikely used too much lye.Detergents have the same chemical structure as soaps except for the functional group. Detergentshave sulfate (R-SO4H) and phosphate (R-PO4H2) functional groups. Draw the above carboxylic acidcarbon chain but as the two variants of detergents. *see imagearrow_forwardWhat are the reactions or reagents used? *see imagearrow_forward
