Introduction:
A researcher has cloned a gene for drought resistance in a plant into another species of the plant. This has led to the development of the new hybrid lines of plants. The gene is injected into the parent line and the expression is checked in the next generations of plants after crossing. This procedure is an example of transgenics. The examples include the drought resistant genes, insecticide resistant genes and fungicide resistant genes.
