Question
Chapter 12.3, Problem 16AYP
Summary Introduction
To describe:
The unique methods used to treat biofilm infections.
Concept introduction:
Biofilm microbes differ from other free-living microorganisms. Biofilm microbes have different antibiotic susceptibility profiles, because they express different genes to prevent their surfaces by the action of antimicrobials/antibiotics. Biofilm organisms are surrounded by a sticky extracellular material, which cannot be penetrated by the antimicrobial drugs.
