Action potentials are the electrical currents that travel across the membrane of the cells of the heart. The heart generates and propagates the action potential for the contraction. The action potential of the cells of the heart is similar to the neurons, cardiac muscles, and skeletal muscles. Resting membrane potential is the electrical difference between the outer and inner membranes during the resting or polarized state.
