(a)
The suitable experiment to measure the temperature of the freezer of a refrigerator, using an empty plastic bottle with a cap, a bowl of water, and a graduated cylinder. Given are the following options, when the temperature of the room is given as
I. Put the open plastic bottle into the freezer for half an hour. Take the bottle out, turn it upside down into the water, and measure the volume of the water sucked into the bottle.
II. Put the open plastic bottle in the freezer for half an hour. Take the bottle out and close it with the cap. Wait until the shape stops changing. Turn the bottle upside down into the water, open the cap, and measure the volume of the water that entered the bottle.
III. Put the closed plastic bottle in the freezer for half an hour. Take the bottle out, turn it upside down into the water, and then open the cap. Measure the volume of the water sucked into the bottle.
IV. Put the closed plastic bottle in the freezer for half an hour. Take the bottle out, open the cap, and turn the bottle upside down into the water. Measure the volume of the water sucked into the bottle.
(b)
The expression for the temperature of the freezer, which can be evaluated with the help of the chosen option in the sub-part (a) of the given problem using the physical quantities along with the assumptions made.

- The space between the stars isn't totally empty. In interstellar space, far from any stars, there is about one hydrogen atom per cm³ at the very low temperature of 3 K. This is an estimation problem, so answers with one significant figure are appropriate. Part A What is the mean free path of the hydrogen atoms in interstellar space? Express your answer to one significant figure and include the appropriate units. - A gas at T0 and atmospheric pressure fills a cylinder. The gas is transferred to a new cylinder with three times the volume, after which the pressure is half the original pressure. What is the new temperature of the gas? Express your answer in terms of T0arrow_forwardA student team places 100 milliliters (mL) of distilled water into each of two graduated cylinders. One is placed in a humid room, and one is placed in a dry room. The team measures the remaining volume of water in each cylinder every 5 minutes. To produce a generally valid conclusion about the relationship between humidity and rate of evaporation, which experimental condition should be true? O Both test cylinders had the same mass. O Both water samples took the same amount of time to evaporate. O Each room used had the same temperature. O Each room used had the same volume.arrow_forwardPlease provide complete step by step answer: A customer orders 200ml of Sumatran coffee at precisely 60.0°C. You then need to drop the temperature of the coffee, initially at 90.0°C, to the ordered temperature. In order to simplify the calculations, you will start by assuming that coffee has the specific heat and density as if water. In the following parts, you will remove these simplifications. Solve now this problem assuming the density is 1.000 g/ml for coffee and its specific heat capacity is 4.184 J/(g ºC). If you had used ice cubes to cool the coffee, your calculation of q would have been a two- step process: (1) the ice at 0 oC first has to melt (energy added to go from solid to liquid; and then (2) to warm the liquid from 0 oC to the final temperature where q = mice cice + mwater cwater ∆T where cice = 2.11 J/ g . oC cwater = 4.184 J/ g . oC (Note: there is no ∆T for the first step since melting of the ice occurs at 0 oC, no temperature change) What…arrow_forward
