Interpretation:
Condition of pressure under that gas exhibit ideal behavior has to be determined.
Concept Introduction:
Kinetic molecular theory discusses behavior of gases. It also helps to understand existence of matter in different phases. This theory is based upon motion of gas particles. Gas that completely satisfies this theory is called ideal gas.
Basic assumptions of kinetic molecular theory are as follows:
(1) Gas particles in ideal gas move in random directions until they collide.
(2) Particles of ideal gas have negligible volume as compared to total volume of gas.
(3) There are no attractive and repulsive forces between ideal gas molecules.
(4) Ideal generate pressure due to collision of molecule to walls of container and all collisions are perfectly elastic.
(5) At given temperature, all gases have same average kinetic energy.
