Concept introduction:

Antimicrobial host-derived products are the larger proteins such as nutrient-binding proteins and they contain sites which target specific microbial macromolecules. These proteins act largely by disrupting the structure or function of the cell membranes of the microbes. Restriction factors are antimicrobial products which inhibit the multiplication of viruses in host cells
