To determine:

The use of antibiotics such as chloramphenicol, tetracycline, and erythromycin in determining the proteins that are encoded by mitochondrial and chloroplast genomes.

Introduction:

TDifferent antibiotics have different types of modes of action. Erythromycin mechanism of action includes the inhibition of the protein synthesis inside the ribosomes by blocking the aminoacylation step. Tetracycline blocks the protein synthesis inside the bacterial cells by inhibiting the protein- mRNA complex inside the cell. Such compounds could be used in determining the proteins that are encoded by chloroplast and mitochondrial genome.
