Introduction
In plant cells, each cell is in continuation with the other cell. The adjacent cells contact each other through plasmodesmata, which are openings that help in the movement of signals and materials between the cells. In the case of animals, each cell is separated by the extracellular matrix from the adjacent cell. There are various types of junctions present in the animal tissues that help in various functions. These form a type of intercellular bridge consisting of protein complexes that help in interaction with neighboring cells.
