Summary Introduction

Introduction:

The extracellular layer of the cell helps in defining the shape of the cell. It is also responsible for acting as a layer of defense for the cell and helps in the attachment of one cell with another. This layer consists of a network of cross-linked long filaments, which is embedded in a ground substance. This basic structure remains the same for all the extracellular structures present in varied organisms. The encasing material and molecules that form the filament vary for different cell type and organism.
