Introduction:

The proto-oncogenes are the genes that have a capability to cause cancer. An oncogene is altered the DNA sequence which has been mutated from its original form: proto-oncogene. Oncogenes promote cell division. Tumor suppressor genes act opposite to oncogene that prevents the cell division of cancerous cells.

The ${\text{p}}^{\text{53}}$ gene is a gene that gives instructions for making a ${\text{p}}^{\text{53}}$ protein which is called tumor suppressor protein. These proteins prevent the division of damaged cells and gives signals to undergo a programmed cell death called apoptosis. By preventing cells with damaged DNA, it prevents the development of tumors.
