The following steps to simplify the algebraic expression $7x+3=3x-5$ to the expression $x=-2$ is shown below,

• To simplify the given expression, subtract $3x$ from both the sides of the expression $7x+3=3x-5$ to obtain the variable in the expression to the left hand side.
