Concept explainers
How far can an object be tipped before it topples over?
The location of an object be tipped before it topples over.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The center of gravity is the point where average weight of a body is said to be concentrated. Center of gravity. For every object the center of gravity and center of mass are almost same.
When object's center of gravity is above the area of support the object remain upright. The object will topple when its center of gravity lies outside the area of support.
Conclusion:
The object will remain upright until when its center of gravity is above the area of support.
