Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The two different ways of using intermerallic compounds needs to be explained.

Concept Introduction:

The intermetallic compound is a substance that comprises of a minimum of two metallic constituents which blend to give a new phase of same properties and other features that a parent material includes. It also consists of one or more than one non-metallic elements if required.

• Intermetallic compounds are very hard and brittle in nature.
• They hold properties like strength and ductility.
• They could withstand at high temperatures.
• The mechanical properties are equivalent to that of ceramics.
• They also hold magnetic properties.
• They are good conductors as well.
