To describe:
The transformation.
Introduction:
In some species of bacteria transformation is naturally occurring process. Transformation is used as a tool in genetic engineering, insertion of new genetic material into non bacterial cells is described by the process of transformation.
To describe:
The experiment conducted by Avery and his colleagues to demonstrate that DNA is the transforming material.
Introduction:
DNA is a transforming material, this was demonstrated by Griffith in his experiment on the bacteria Streptococcus pneumoniae. Transforming material is capable in changing the strain of bacteria. Griffith concluded that transforming principle is the genetic material, but it was not identified whether it is protein or DNA.
