Fascia is a sheet of connective tissue that separates the muscle group form each other and from the subcutaneous tissue. The fascicles surrounded by perimysium are oriented in different ways which determines the strength of a muscle and the direction in which it pulls. Muscle compartments, interosseous membranes and intermuscular septa are used to describe the anatomy of the muscle.
