Summary Introduction

To describe: The diffusion of carbon dioxide (CO₂) molecule used in the photosynthesis into the chloroplast of the leaf cells.

Concept introduction: Plasma membranes are selectively permeable. Non-polar compounds such as CO₂, oxygen, and hydrocarbons can dissolve in the lipid bilayer and cross the plasma membrane without the help of plasma membrane proteins.
