The serous membranes that line the pleural, pericardial, and peritoneal cavities are referred to as the peritoneum, pleura, and pericardium, respectively. A small amount of lubricating fluid is secreted by serous membranes. Pleura is the serous membrane that covers the thoracic. It is divided into parietal and visceral pleura.
