City Mortgage is a medium-size mortgage company that employs about 25 people. Jenny Hernandez, who has been with the company for 10 years, is the production manager who oversees its day-to-day operations.

Managers should not be able to hire whomever they want especially if there is a particular level that is needed within the company and their company needs. I agree that a manager should be able to hire someone that they feel would be the best fit for what they are looking for. I think that everyone should most definitely have a chance or an opportunity to prove themselves that they are capable of upholding the needs of the company. I think that if managers hire just anyone and then they might get themselves in a situation that may need to make sure that those agents or employees are up-trained enough to ensure that their needs are met. When we go down this route, we have to make sure that the employees have retained the information and the expectations that are needed to do the job at hand. The challenges that would need to occur for someone to move from their current balance of work and leisure to where I would like to be in the next 5 years would vary depending on my specific goals and priorities:
Reduce work hours or take on a different role with a better work-life balance.
Re-prioritizing my leisure activities to ensure there is plenty of time dedicated to personal interests and fulfillment.
Make changes to the work environment, such as flexible schedules or telecommuting, make better accommodate a desired balance.
Seeking additional training or education allows for career development that would bring significant work-life balance.
I'm re-evaluating my personal relationships, commitments, and other factors that may contribute to a desired balance of work and leisure.
