The term anthropology is derived from the Latin word anthropologia which can be translated as the study of humanity. As a discipline, Anthropology takes a broad and multidisciplinary approach to understand human existence.
In a 2018 article by Nathalie Levine titled: Ten Ways to Think Like an Anthropologist we see cultural relativism, critical distance, everyday life, inductive and non-teleological reasoning as important aspects of thinking like an anthropologist.
In short these methodological traits suggest a non judgmental was of thinking around the world which is also not just focused on the means to a particular end. Such an approach help solve social problems today because we live today in a highly reactive social world in which people are not responding after reflecting but merely reacting to stimuli. An anthropological approach can tell us why people behave they way they do, this makes decision making more considerate and can alleviate social issues.
