What is a good response to... The 1902 Coal Strike was a significant labor conflict that would mark a turning point in labor relations in the United States. Even though I don't consider Theodore Roosevelt a fearful man, I believe in this particular moment he probably was. Not intervening would have resulted in a possible coal shortage, creating hardship to Americans during winter. Also, with the riots happening and no signs of a peaceful settlement, could he might of feared a civil war? Maybe; but it was thanks to his involvement that it would set a precedent for future labor negotiations by contributing to the rise of organized labor movements and demonstrating how important labor rights are.  As a leader in the negotiations, I would be supporting President Roosevelt and the government intervention. I believe Roosevelt acted as a great leader, took a great risk, and did what he had to do to end it. As a result, he would positively impact not only the workers but would create reforms in labor relations and policies, influencing future negotiations and labor legislation.
