Question

what does "eastern theater" mean in history?

Expert Solution
Step 1 Introduction

The Easter Theater is associated with the American Civil War which extended from southern Pennsylvania to the border of North Carolina and from Chesapeake Bay to the west of the Shenandoah valley. The theater was bounded by the Appalachian Mountains to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. The most important and significant battle fought is considered to be the war at Gettysburg; other wars included the first big battle of Ball Run, the deadliest single day at Antietam etc.

The then president Abraham Lincoln sought to replace General Robert E lee with an equivalent, therefore ended up appointing Maj. Gens. Irvin McDowell, George B. McClellan, John Pope, Ambrose Burnside, Joseph Hooker, and George G. Meade to command his principal Eastern armies. The battles were bought to a close only in the summers of 1865.
