Expert Solution
Step 1

Stress is our body's natural response to any sort of pressure, threat or an assumed danger. When our brain is stimulated by the sympathetic nervous system which is a part of the autonomic nervous system, our body gets into a fight or flight mode. The sympathetic nervous system signals the adrenal gland which stimulates adrenal and epinephrine in the body which makes us either fight in a situation or makes us run away from the stressor. However, even when there is no possible threat or danger and if our body continues to assume that we are under some sort of pressure because of an internal stressor, our body will soon experience burn out. Social stressors can include relationship issues, daily hassles includes work pressure and life events like death of a loved one are all a cause of stress.

Thus, the options b, c and d are incorrect.

Psychological stressors include social stressors like fight with a spouse, work pressure, financial strain and related anxiety. This causes worry and anxiety which is general. Our body continues to assume that we are facing a dangerous situation and is thus over-stimulated by the sympathetic nervous system. Our body is unnecessarily over working which results in increase in heart rate, palpitation, shortness of breath and dizziness. Stress, worry and anxiety manifests in physical form which is known as psychosomatic disorders. Psychosomatic disorders refer to when our mental health affects our physical health.
