Expert Solution
Step 1

Answer :-

Option (B) : Step -II.

To understand how it happens, let's see what is mean by elimination reaction conceptually.

Elimination reaction -

These are the reactions in which two atoms or groups of starting reactant molecule are removed by the action of acids, bases, metals or in some cases heating reactant to at high temperature.

These reactions when carried out on saturated compounds which having carbon- carbon single bond, then it converted into unsaturated compounds (carbon -carbon multiple bonds).

There are number of examples of elimination reaction such as,

Dehalogenation reaction:- conversion of  vicinal dihalide into alkene.

Dehydrohalogenation reaction :- conversion of alkyl halide into alkene.

Dehydration reaction:-  conversion of alcohol into alkene by the action of Conc. H2SO4.
