There are many events beyond the United States that are very significant to World History. They are connected to discourses of colonization in Asian countries and in Africa, rights of women, peasant uprisings, and assertions of nationalistic ambitions. Some of these events can be seen from the lens of conflict and compromise which was significant for any of these conflicts to end. In this context, the Indian National Movement saw many such conflicts and compromised to finally become independent in the year 1947.
