The UWI student association published an evaluation of the courses taught during Semester 1 of AY2020/21. Students in each course completed an evaluation in which they rated a number of different aspects of the course on a 5-point scale (1= very bad to 5=excellent)” Five variables obtained are: Rating – overall rating of the course. CC – rating of teaching skills of the CC. assessments – quality of assessments given knowledge – rating of the instructor’s knowledge of the material grade - student’s anticipated grade for the course (1=F to 5=A) Rating CC Assessments Knowledge Grade 4.5 3.4 3.9 2.9 4.5 2.8 4.1 3.2 3.8 3.7 3.9 4.5 3 3.2 3.8 5 4.8 3.9 3.9 3.4 1.8 3.1 1.2 2.8 2.7 3.4 2.5 4 3.6 4.2 4.7 4.7 4 3.2 3.8 2.2 3.8 2.8 2.7 4.5 3.8 4.4 4.5 3.9 4.7 4.6 4.5 4.7 4.6 4.1 3.2 2.7 3.1 3.2 3.8 3.1 3.9 4.4 3.3 3.5 4.8 4.6 3.7 5 3.6 3.7 3.5 4.2 3.1 4.1 4 4.7 3.7 4.2 3.8 4.6 4.5 4.7 4.6 4.1 3.2 2.7 3.1 3.2 3.8 3.1 3.9 4.4 3.3 3.5 4.8 4.6 3.7 5 3.6 3.7 3.5 4.2 3.1 4.1 Using SPSS answer the following c. At the 5% significance level, determine if the model is useful for predicting overall rating of the course. In responding, construct and test any appropriate hypothesis. d. At the 5% significance level, does it appear that CC, assessment or knowledge can be removed from the model as unnecessary? In responding, construct and test any appropriate hypothesis
Inverse Normal Distribution
The method used for finding the corresponding z-critical value in a normal distribution using the known probability is said to be an inverse normal distribution. The inverse normal distribution is a continuous probability distribution with a family of two parameters.
Mean, Median, Mode
It is a descriptive summary of a data set. It can be defined by using some of the measures. The central tendencies do not provide information regarding individual data from the dataset. However, they give a summary of the data set. The central tendency or measure of central tendency is a central or typical value for a probability distribution.
Z-Scores
A z-score is a unit of measurement used in statistics to describe the position of a raw score in terms of its distance from the mean, measured with reference to standard deviation from the mean. Z-scores are useful in statistics because they allow comparison between two scores that belong to different normal distributions.
